Description

We offer a friendly, secure homestay experience (meals included) so you can relax and focus on your studies. Your furnished room (double bed, desk, and bookshelf) is on the 2nd floor with a large window. You will have access to the common areas in the rest of the house - kitchen, living room, dining room, two bathrooms, etc. Amenities include: high-speed internet, laundry facilities, and a bicycle for your use. We live in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to many shops, restaurants and parks. Algonquin College is 30 minutes by bus from the Hazeldean Mall where we are happy to drop you off and pick you up as needed. We are a family of three (mom, dad, 13-year old boy) and have hosted Canadian and international students in our home for over 10 years. Mom has lived in India and Japan and has taught ESL. Dad is a musician with a background in world music/ethnomusicology. Our household is completely non-smoking. We enjoy games and movies and going to the beach and to museums and festivals. We will invite you to join us in these activities if you are interested. We will also respect your privacy and not bother you when you wish to be on your own. Lease Conditions
We have a homestay agreement that we can send to you to review. It is essentially an agreement to respect the property and each other with details about food/meals, laundry, showers, keys, etc. We usually rent for a typical school year (September to April) but we are open to longer stays that begin earlier and/or end later. Ideally, for first year students, with little or no credit history, we like to have a parent or guardian as a guarantor on the lease. If this is not possible, then we will rely on references and a credit check. Please note that we have been contacted by fraudsters in the past so we proceed cautiously out of necessity. To secure the lease, we require the homestay agreement to be signed (scanned and sent by email is typical) and receipt of an e-transfer or wire transfer of the first month's rent.
